## Worth keeping in mind

- Choose between remembering a moment, marking a date and discussing a concern.
- Let each person keep their own perspective and choose whether to contribute.
- Agree storage, copies and public sharing before adding private material.

> You save a photograph of the view. Your partner remembers the ridiculous sandwich you ate beside it. The camera has captured the mountains beautifully and overlooked what became the running joke. There is room for both versions.

A couples memory book is a place to keep moments you want to return to: pictures, words, tickets or a small detail from an ordinary day. Start with a few entries you both welcome. You are making a collection, not compiling evidence that your relationship is impressive.

## Choose what you want the record to do

A memory book keeps experiences. A countdown marks an upcoming date. A relationship health tracker invites reflection about how things feel. These are different jobs, even when an app puts them on the same screen.

Decide which job you want before choosing a format. If you want to remember a lovely afternoon, you do not need a score. If you need to discuss feeling unsupported, a collection of holiday photographs will not settle that concern.

## Begin with a few ordinary moments

Pick something small enough to finish: one outing, a month of everyday life or a particular occasion. Include a moment each person chose, rather than only the photographs taken by the person who usually organises things.

You might keep a bus ticket, a picture of an attempted recipe or a sentence someone said on the walk home. Ask, “What detail would you want to find again?” An ordinary entry can be complete without a romantic caption.

Leave room for different recollections. “I remember being nervous before we left” can sit beside “I remember the rain stopping.” Neither contribution has to become the approved account of the day.

## Choose paper, a shared album or a dedicated timeline

Paper may suit a small collection of tickets and handwritten notes. Agree where it will live and who may look through it. Photographing a page for a backup or a public post is a separate sharing decision.

An existing shared-photo album may be enough when pictures are the main material. Check who owns it, who can add items and how each person gets a copy they want to retain. Do not share your whole library merely because you want one small collection.

Lovewick’s official tracker page describes a timeline of photos and reflections alongside countdowns and milestone records. That is an example of a dedicated relationship format. Check the current product, cost, export options and privacy policy yourself.

## Make the first entry with two voices

Try this original three-field entry. Each person can contribute, add a different detail or pass. Writing one paragraph together is optional.

- The moment: a plain description, such as “lunch after the long walk”.
- My detail: each person adds one thing they want to remember, in their own words.
- Our sharing choice: who may see the entry, which photos are welcome and whether anything should stay out.

## Ask before storing, then ask again before sharing

Agree what may be added, particularly private messages, pictures of other people or details about children, health and family life. A memory can matter without belonging in a shared account. Do not use the book to demand disclosure or proof of where someone was.

Google Photos says album owners can remove members and turn off link sharing. Removing a person alone is not enough if an active link lets them rejoin. Its guide also warns that stopping sharing does not delete downloaded or copied pictures. Treat controls as limits on access, not a promise to retrieve every copy.

Before choosing a service, check how you would leave, save your own material and remove an unwanted entry. Discuss screenshots and public posts separately. Ask support where the policy is unclear, and avoid storing something if the arrangement is not acceptable to everyone involved.

## Keep the collection easy to return to

Choose a small amount of effort you both want to give. You could add something after a particular outing or leave the book alone until you feel like returning. There is no required streak, equal photo count or minimum number of milestones.

A countdown can be a useful label for a date you have agreed, but it is not a commitment test. Discuss the date and any preparation directly. If your plans change, change the entry rather than asking someone to keep a promise the screen appears to make.

When you return to an entry, ask what you would enjoy repeating and what you would change. The sandwich may deserve its own page. The mountains can keep the photograph.

Quick answers

## Frequently asked questions

What should go in a couples memory book?

Keep moments you want to return to: a photograph, ticket, short account or ordinary detail. Each person can choose an entry. There is no required list of milestones.

Do we need an app to make one?

No. Paper or an existing shared album may be enough. A dedicated timeline adds another format to consider; check access, export, cost and privacy before choosing.

Can stopping album sharing remove every saved copy?

No. Google Photos warns that downloaded or copied material remains after sharing stops. Agree what may be stored and shared before uploading private photographs or messages.
