One paragraph
Swooni is a couples app that turns Gottman’s Magic Ratio research into a practical daily habit. Each partner selects the relationship areas they want to strengthen, and Swooni uses those selections to personalize the daily questions each person receives. Shared check-ins, Capacity signals, a private chat, and a living relationship Roadmap help partners notice drift early and stay aligned. Swooni is available for iPhone and Android as a paid subscription after a one-time seven-day trial where available; U.S. plans cost $15.99-$16.49 per month or $32.99-$33 per year.
Full story
Swooni began with a problem in founders Angelica and Ayo Paradis’s own marriage: knowing relationship theory did not make it easy to use when life was busy, energy was low, or a small misunderstanding was already growing. They built the practical tool they wished they had. Swooni turns Gottman’s Magic Ratio research into lightweight daily actions. Each partner selects the relationship areas they want to strengthen. Swooni uses those individual selections to personalize the daily questions each person receives, so both people can grow toward the relationship they want to build. Couples can also log positive and difficult moments, see their Magic Ratio, share Capacity before walking through the door, talk privately, and build a shared Roadmap. Swooni is designed for everyday relationship care, not diagnosis or treatment. It is not therapy, counseling, medical care, religious guidance, or crisis support.

Founders and story angles
Built from a marriage, not a pitch deck.

Angelica brings a clinical psychology background, including training in Gottman and PACT, plus years designing technology around human behavior; Ayo brings engineering and systems experience focused on making Swooni simple, reliable, and private.
Five story angles

- 02Can the Magic Ratio become a visible daily signal that helps couples catch drift before it becomes distance?
- 03What changes at home when partners can share how much Capacity they have left before they walk through the door?
- 04What changes when each partner receives personalized daily questions based on the relationship areas they individually want to strengthen?
- 05Swooni began with a problem in its founders’ own marriage and the blueprint they wished they already had.

Swooni app FAQ
Clear answers about the app, its science, subscriptions, therapy boundary, founders, pairing, and access.
Can something as beautifully messy as love really have a formula? Surprisingly, yes! But it’s less about turning love into maths and more about understanding what helps it last. Research by the Gottman Institute found that stable couples tend to have around five positive interactions for every negative one during conflict. In everyday life, that number jumps to around 20 to one. They call it the Magic Ratio.
This doesn’t mean happy couples never argue (they’re still human). They get annoyed, misunderstand each other, and occasionally hurt each other too. The difference is that these moments are balanced by much more affection, appreciation, fun, support, and repair.
And this balance matters more than you might think. It helped researchers predict, with over 94% accuracy, which couples would stay together and which would separate.
The best part is this: your ratio isn’t set in stone. Every time you show appreciation, respond with care, share a laugh, or find your way back after a hard moment, you help shift it.
Swooni turns this science into simple things you can practise together every day. Because knowing the formula is helpful, but actually using it is where things start to change.
